Maharashtrian Cuisine

Cookbooks from Maharashtra encompass a wide range of local cuisines, from the Thanjavur Maharashtrian community to the Saraswat Brahmin community. Upon approaching the 2000s, one can see new cooking technology like the microwave ('Swayampak Gharatil Nava Mitra Microwave Oven') being incorporated into the cooking routine. The metropolitan city of Mumbai, with its burgeoning population from various states, has developed a cuisine of its own that is well-documented in 'Dishoom: From Bombay with Love' and 'The Indecisive Chicken: Stories and recipes from eight Dharavi women'.

We are always looking for regional and community cookbooks. If you wish to share cookbooks specific to the Maharashtrian or Marathi community, you could reach out to us at indiancommunitycookbooks@gmail.com.
